I do want to let you know that I LOVE the chance to sit down with parents and discuss any and all issues that arise during a students’ time in middle school ministry.
I operate on a open phone, inbox, and door policy and see communication as a must.
Our vision for the “incomplete,” night scheduled for Friday February 26 is that it would be a night where our ministry staff, not just our middle school ministry team, but other 12Stone staff as well, makes information available to parents to help them navigate these three years as a middle school family. Our team has prayerfully considered what an event like this will be like, is taking much time to plan the night, and want to do our very best to be good stewards of the family relationships with which we have been blessed. The questions that were written on the postcard were ones that have actually been sent in and asked by current middle school students in 6th 7th and 8th grade. Seeing that this need has presented itself we wanted to do our best to first alert parents that these issues are coming up, and also prepare parents with the information and guidance necessary to answer these questions with Biblical knowledge and Christ like understanding. Our hope is that this night is different from a mere informational meeting, but serves as a press to parents who would otherwise not have the conviction to raise students in a Jesus centered home.
Since we will be discussing more catalytic issues at the incomplete family night we wanted to make it a voluntary attendance night…in order to leave the choice to expose students to these questions and answers up to each individual family. That is why it is on a different night of the week and not on a normal Wednesday night.
This night is a good thing. It will make you think, rethink, hopefully spark some genuine conversation between you and your student. I’ll see you there.
